The easy way to build your design

Zonify was made to be simple, this simple introduction will save you lots of time and give you the professional results you were looking for !

The easiest way to use Zonify and probably the most powerful tool you will need to know when using Zonify is the clone tool, CTRL + C when you drop walls onto the page place one wall and resize it so it matches your underlying wall on your base drawing,

Once you have this wall set and its selected, use the clone keyboard command CTRL + C so now you will have a duplicate wall, simply drag this wall into situ and dont adjust the width.  Only ever adjust the length, when you need a horizontal or vertical line always just use a cloned item and rotate it (rotate freehand or use the orientation buttons for 45/90 degrees, etc) this will mean all your walls are the same size.  When you do inner walls use the same process position one wall resize to fit and adjust the width then clone and position never adjusting the width this will mean all your inner and outer walls will be sized correctly.

Then apply this logic to anything you drag to the page, drag it, resize it and clone it and then drag all the cloned object into situ, this will work for windows, doors, detectors, etc.

When you drop text onto the page, you do the same scale it then clone it, if you are numbering your smoke detectors the clone tool will auto increment your detector numbering so you only have to drag the text to each detector.

Frequently Asked Questions

I only seem to have three save slots ?

The standard release of Zonify has what we call a scratch pad, its a temporary storage that's there to save your design until its completion before then working on new designs its not there as a permanent medium for your designs.  If we had to store all the designs everyone did we would have to put up the monthly fee which we don't want to do so everyone has three temporary saving slots.

How do I stop the base image moving but the objects remain in situ?

The right mouse button will turn the lock on and off, once locked you can move the base image and all the other objects will move with the image, if you drag an object this will move independently,

How do I pan and zoom ?

As described in section 1, lock the base image to the objects you can then drag the page around while using the mouse wheel to zoom in and out of your design allowing you to work in greater detail.

How do I rotate an object at 90 degrees ?

You can rotate using your mouse which is freehand or simply select the object and then use the orientation controls, the arrows will rotate at 45 degrees on each keypress.

How do I flip doors and other objects ?

Flipping objects uses the same orientation controls to flip objects you can flip horizontal or vertical and you can also use the keys 'v'-ertical or 'h'-oritzonal.

How do I place text on the page ?

To add text to the page simply drag the box that says "Text" to the page once its added to the page you can then resize, shape, etc and edit the wording in the text box.

How do I add more objects ?

We are happy to add any additional objects you may require, but we will not use copyrighted symbols so any supplied icons that you require may change for this reason.

Does Zonify allow me to mark up my measurements ?

Zonify does have a measurement tool, its simple to use just drag it to the page and it will then start to add your measurements, the first measurement is the important one as after drawing the first line it will ask you for the distance.  Once the distance has been added it knows the scale and will then mark up the drawing as you draw your design.  The full distance of the measurement is shown in the bottom middle so it's clear what your total is.

Can I crop my base image?

When you select your base image if you press CTRL + X it will allow you to crop the image once you have marked out the cropping you simply press enter which will then revery you back to the normal mode with your cropped image.

Is there a way to remove the underlying base image to leave only my clean design ?

At the top of the control box there is an image button if you click this it will show the elements you can hide, the base image is at the top when you untick it will hide it so when you export the design you only see the clean design you have created.

If you used the underlying image because you didn't want to redraw the walls this is fine, different people do things differently in Zonify we do not make the rules that's the great thing in Zonify people find their own way of doing things !

How do I get assistance with a design ?

We are available on Whats App, Telegram, email we will generally always reply back even on a sunday, but please keep in mind we are UK based if you are contacting us from around the world.

If you wish to send us a Whats app of your base image/design and want pointers on how to accomplish something this is something we get asked about quite a few times, we will try to answer these in this section to help others.
